Rooted in the heart of Memmelsdorf near Bamberg for generations, the Hotel and Brewery Inn Drei Kronen has shaped the townscape and Franconian pub culture for over 560 years. A true traditional establishment. In 2016, the business was handed down within the family to the next generation and has since been run with great dedication and carefully modernised, without losing the character of the building. The central design element is the ‘Three Crowns’ motif, which visibly reflects the name of the establishment. As a wall decal featuring three stylised crowns, created from a hand-drawn sketch, it gives the rooms their identity. The colour scheme and choice of materials draw on the brewery’s tradition: earthy, warm tones, natural materials and a calm, minimalist design create a pleasant atmosphere and a harmonious connection to the establishment’s origins. Functionally, too, the rooms are consistently tailored to the needs of today’s guests. Beds with built-in storage, USB-C lights, practical charging points at the desk and open shelving solutions with luggage racks ensure a high level of everyday comfort. In the bathroom, large-format tiles make cleaning easier, whilst the existing parquet flooring has been refurbished and harmoniously integrated into the new design concept. The room concept is designed to cater equally to business travellers, conference guests and holidaymakers. The refurbishment addresses guests’ current expectations and enhances the long-term appeal for all target groups. In collaboration with Appia, which is responsible for planning, visualisation and furnishings, a holistic design concept is being developed that will significantly improve the quality of the guest experience and bring the history of the Drei Kronen to life in a contemporary way.
