Several years ago, Appia developed an interior design concept for the Hotel Heidelberg in Aadorf, Switzerland, to renovate the guest rooms in the existing building. With the hotel’s expansion, this design concept was carried over into the new wing: Appia was responsible for the interior design and furnishings of the new addition, which features 17 rooms, one suite, and a conference area.
The starting point for the hotel design was the hotel’s logo. The apple was adopted as a recurring design element and shapes the rooms in various forms. Apple blossoms adorn the wallpaper, while photographs and stylized motifs of apples, fields, and trees appear on other wall and glass elements. The printed glass room dividers between the hotel rooms and bathrooms are a particular eye-catcher. Light woods, warm white, and beige define the natural color scheme of the hotel’s interior. Strategically placed black accents provide contrast and give the rooms a clean, modern touch.
The new building comprises four single rooms, 13 double rooms, and a penthouse suite with its own steam sauna. Appia crafted custom-made cabinetry for the high-end hotel furnishings in Switzerland: headboards, wall paneling, TV panels, desks, coat racks, and vanities were precision-built in the company’s in-house furniture workshop.
The hotel expansion is complemented by a new conference room that can accommodate up to 100 people. As part of the project, Appia redesigned both the accompanying buffet area and the breakfast restaurant’s buffet. In this way, the hotel’s interior design unifies all areas into a harmonious whole—from the hotel rooms to the public spaces.
