»Kisses from Basel« – under this motto, the lobby of the Essential by Dorint Basel City was redesigned by APPIA. With a strikingly illuminated LED lettering in front of the wallpaper, this is emphasized as soon as the guest enters the hotel lobby. Peppy and modern, with bold colors and pop art design, the new lobby offers fancy Instagram motifs for the international guests. Red kissing mouths on the wall, green moss on the ceiling and lots of gaudy details – a real eye-catcher. The colorful upholstered furniture is contrasted with a plain gray ceiling. A reception counter with filigree oak slats at the front again accentuates the colorful interior. The hotel’s proximity to the city center and the trade fair grounds make it the perfect starting point for experiencing the vibrant city and art scene up close during a private or business stay. APPIA took over the interior design planning and renovation of the public area in this project.
