Modern interior design meets historic architecture: At the Essential by Dorint Mannheim Taylor Park, modern interior design, historic architecture, and the site’s history come together. The new hotel is being built in a former barracks building on the Taylor site in Mannheim, which was used by the U.S. Armed Forces for many years. APPIA Contract GmbH is responsible for the interior design as well as the FF&E implementation of the hotel project.

141 Hotel Rooms in the Taylor Park Mannheim Style

The Essential by Dorint Mannheim Taylor Park features a total of 141 rooms in various categories. The rooms, ranging in size from approximately 20 to 39 square meters, include Essential and Superior rooms, as well as Business and Family rooms, and accessible and wheelchair-accessible rooms.

The design concept draws on the building’s unique past and translates it into a contemporary design language. A striking color scheme of green and rust tones runs throughout the interiors. Carefully placed details tell the story of the building’s history. For example, the American spelling alphabet appears as a graphic design element on the TV panel. Coat racks made of steel mesh echo the industrial style with their minimalist materiality.

Inspired by the »City of Squares«

At the same time, the interior design establishes a connection to the city of Mannheim. The downtown area, known as the »City of Squares« is reflected in graphically interpreted floor plans of Mannheim’s city blocks. As a wall motif behind the headboards, they become a characteristic design element of the hotel rooms and connect the Taylor Park location with Mannheim’s identity.

The design concept also continues in the public areas. In addition to the hotel rooms, the hotel features the Taylor95 Bar & Lounge with a terrace, the restaurant, and three conference rooms.
