Villa Cascina is designed as a private retreat that does not reinvent Alpine architecture, but rather translates its familiar elements into a contemporary form. Wood sets the tone for the rooms. Calm grain patterns, natural colour tones and expansive real wood surfaces run throughout the villa and are complemented by linen, wool and leather in natural shades. Brass provides a subtle contrast in selected areas. The materials are allowed to speak for themselves, rather than being overshadowed by a multitude of different finishes. Classic elements are reimagined in a modern key. Elaborate stucco mouldings, wall frames and subtle coffered ceilings evoke the traditional country house style. These are complemented by clean lines, minimalist fittings and precisely crafted details. Doors, skirting boards, washbasins, wall panelling and bespoke built-in furniture were all custom-made for the villa. This concept runs through the various areas of the house. In the morning, one moves directly from the bedroom to the dressing room; after a day in the mountains, into the ski room and then on to the living area.
